Careers guidance that grows with you
We know your career goals might change… and that’s okay. That’s why our careers support is built to grow with you, from the moment you start right through to your final term. You’ll benefit from:
Supporting you into the workforce
We believe your time at college is an investment, and the ultimate return is a meaningful, fulfilling career. That’s why we’re laser-focused on more than just qualifications; we’re building the bridge between the classroom and the workplace.
Our dedicated Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance (CIAG) strategy isn’t an add-on! It has been woven into the fabric of the UCS College Group’s long-term vision.
It’s our promise that every student who walks through our doors leaves with a clear pathway and the real-world skills to confidently step into employment, further education, or high-quality training. We’re not just preparing you for the future; we’re helping you define it.

Real-world readiness
A college qualification is your foundation, but job readiness is your launchpad. At UCS College Group, supporting your journey into the workforce is our highest priority. We know that securing that first role, apprenticeship, or university place is what truly matters, and that’s where our expertise kicks in.

We aim to offer a careers service that is accessible to everyone. We will seek to equip you with the skills and knowledge that will enable you to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life and work. All students have the opportunity to meet with a Careers Advisor for 1:1 career support.
Our online Career Coach tool is a great place to start, and is designed to help establish some potential career options for your young person.
Talk to your Personal Tutor for help with getting started.
All Strode College students will have a personal tutor to support them with their academic progress and personal development. The tutorial programme consists of 1:1 support, group tutorials and guest speakers, plus targeted online resources which complement the UCS College Group Advantage scheme.
Your tutor is assigned to you during your induction week at college, and will be available to meet both online, via Microsoft Teams, in group sessions, and you can arrange 1:1 time.
If you have an offer for an apprenticeship, but have not yet secured employment, you will be entered into the Talent Pool. We work alongside your young person to provide them with the correct tools to gain employment, reveal opportunities, and put them in contact with potential employers.
It is important to remember, however, that a part of an apprenticeship is finding your own employer and way. Many students first study a full-time programme with us – such as a T Level – before moving onto an apprenticeship in the future.
That’s OK – our online Career Coach tool is designed to help establish some potential career options for you.
Alternatively, we recommend that you talk to your Careers Teacher at school, or a member of our School Liaisons team whenever they get a chance.
Our School Liasion team frequently attend events and visit schools in our local area.
