Course Overview

The Access to Further Education course is designed primarily for students who want to gain experience in a variety of vocational lessons, introducing a range of vocational sectors and helping you to develop key skills such as communication, IT, teamwork, presentation and organisational skills that you will need to progress onto Level 2 programmes, supported internships, apprenticeships or employment.

You will also attend English and Maths lessons as part of your timetable. This will be either be in Functional Skills or GCSE depending on your current level of qualification in these subjects.

Assessment Methods

You will study a combination of practical and theory subjects, and your progress is assessed through a range of assignments and assessments.

You will also be expected to complete a week’s work experience in an industry you have an interest in.

Progression Options

On successful completion of this course you will be able to progress onto a Level 2 programme, Supported Internship or an apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

This programme is for young people who seek a fresh start or those who have been out of education or need a re-introduction to study. You must have GCSE grades in English Language and Maths, and be able to demonstrate motivation and be committed to attend.
