Course Overview

Functional Skills English focuses on the fundamental skills and knowledge required to apply English to employment and everyday life. The study of English can help to broaden your skills and confidence in three key subject areas – reading, writing, speaking and listening. You will work towards a nationally recognised qualification which at Level 2 is equivalent to grade 4 at GCSE. Functional Skills in English will help you to improve your job and career opportunities, develop your English skills in writing, reading and communication, and learn important skills for everyday activities. You can choose to study either in our expert tutor led class lessons on campus at Strode College, or through online tuition. Alternatively, for those with good independent learning skills who would like to work towards completion of their Functional Skills using our quality resources, you can choose to study with expert tutor support within a workshop style session.
