Course Overview

The business administrator apprenticeship develops the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to support efficient and effective business operations across a wide range of organisational settings. the programme equips learners with strong administrative skills, including communication, planning, problem-solving and the ability to use business systems confidently. apprentices gain an understanding of how their role supports team performance, customer service, project delivery and organisational compliance.

Throughout the apprenticeship, learners develop professionalism, attention to detail and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to workplace priorities. the programme also encourages reflective practice, continuous improvement and strong organisational values, enabling apprentices to adapt to changing business needs and support long-term operational success.

  • Using business systems, software, and digital tools
  • Communication skills, customer service, and stakeholder engagement
  • Planning, organisation, and time-management techniques
  • Producing documents, managing information, and maintaining records
  • Project support, problem-solving, and process improvement
  • Professional behaviours, teamwork, and business etiquette.

Assessment Methods

Assessment includes on-programme learning and an end-point assessment. Throughout the apprenticeship, learners build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating competence in administration tasks, communication, organisation and use of business systems.

Evidence may include workplace tasks, reflective accounts, feedback from employers and completed projects.

Progression Options

On completion of the Business Administration apprenticeship, learners can progress into roles such as administration officer, executive assistant, team leader, project support officer or customer service supervisor.

Many learners continue their development through the team leader/supervisor Level 3 apprenticeship, the business administrator Level 4 apprenticeship or sector-specific pathways such as HR, finance or project management. The programme provides strong foundations for advancing into supervisory or specialist roles, depending on career goals.

Entry Requirements

It is desirable for applicants to hold GCSEs in maths and english at grades 9 to 3, or an appropriate level 1 qualification.

Learners should have good communication skills, a positive attitude toward learning and an interest in supporting business operations.
