Course Overview

Would you like to work in a thriving business environment? Would you like practical, real world work experience? Would you like to study in state-of-the-art facilities?

This two-year course has been developed in conjunction with major businesses such as Sainsbury’s, HMRC and Santander to ensure it provides you with up-to-date, relevant and exciting content. 25% of the course is real-world practical work placement, and this work placement can be voluntary or paid.

You will gain technical knowledge and skills specific to your chosen industry or occupation, a work placement of at least 315 hours in your chosen industry or occupation, and relevant maths, English, and digital skills.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is through a variety of methods including exams, practical projects set by employers, assignments, case studies, presentations and the externally set Employer Set Project (ESP).

Year 1 is assessed by two exam papers and the completion of the ESP. The ESP is completed in the classroom under exam conditions.

Year 2 is assessed by completion of the Occupational Specialism taken under controlled classroom-based exam conditions.

During your two years of study, you must complete 315 verified work placement hours to be awarded the qualification.

Progression Options

On successful completion, you could progress on to a university course at University Centre Somerset, Higher Apprenticeship, seek employment or set up your own business/entrepreneurial activities.

Entry Requirements

You need five GCSEs in the 9 to 4 range, including English Language and maths, or a relevant Level 2 qualification with a Merit profile, plus GCSE English Language and maths.

Entry is subject to a successful interview.
