Course Overview

This programme is suitable for 16-18-year olds, and the qualification is a City & Guilds Level 1 Diploma in Construction Skills.

The course offers a variety of practical skills and provides learners with a range of experiences to help them decide which route they wish to pursue within the Construction industry.

The course includes an introduction to carpentry, painting & decorating, brickwork, and general groundworks. Learners will engage in work experience with local employers, complete vocationally relevant functional skills, and enjoy an enrichment programme at Strode College with a view to progressing onto an apprenticeship.

Safety boots, a high vis vest, and work wear is required.

Assessment Methods

Assessment takes place through various vocational tasks, completion of a logbook, and a successful work experience placement. You will also improve your English and maths skills.

Progression Options

Many students opt to progress to an apprenticeship after successful completion of this programme, subject to a successful interview and finding an employer.

Entry Requirements

You will need four GCSEs at grade 1 or above. You will also need to secure a relevant work experience placement. Entry is subject to a successful interview.
