Course Overview

Please note: you will make your selection of three A Levels once you have progressed into the application process.

This course will be ideal for you if you are interested in a career in the Arts, Painting, Architecture, Printmaking, or Surface Pattern, and learners usually progress onto a Foundation course (pre degree), or degree, if required after A levels.

Students have also combined Photography, Film Studies, Media Studies, Textiles or Graphics, and progressed into Animation, Photography, and Fashion.

This is a two-year practical course with written elements. You learn by completing fortnightly skills, in year one, that develop into larger bodies of independent work.

Topics may include:

  • Painting & drawing
  • Collage
  • Printmaking
  • Mixed media.

Assessment Methods

This course is assessed by a range of assignments and assessments. These are set and marked internally by Strode staff and then validated by an external moderator.

Progression Options

On successful completion of this course, you could continue to study on a Fine Art degree or Art Foundation course (pre degree). Some students have also taken up an apprenticeship in the creative industries.

Entry Requirements

You need five GCSEs in the 9 to 4 range, including maths, English and an Art subject at grade 4.

Entry is subject to a successful interview with a portfolio of work.
