Course Overview

If you are looking for a career in the food manufacturing industry or already work in the sector, an Apprenticeship is a hands-on work-based route. The food industry is diverse and roles range from agronomy and food production through to buying, product development, marketing and commercial sales. There are many associated roles such as financial, human resources, laboratory based, nutrition and health or sensory analysis.

Core modules may include:

  • Product quality
  • Food safety
  • HACCP
  • Maintaining safety standards in production
  • Raw materials
  • Weighing and mixing
  • Product development

Assesment Methods

You will be assessed by written coursework, practical assessments, presentations and demonstrations, employer feedback, portfolio and examination.

Assessments will normally be in the workplace however any topics studied at College will be assessed in a classroom environment.

Progression Options

On successful completion of the course you could progress to Higher Education or find employment in the food industry.

Entry Requirements

You need five GCSEs in the 9 to 4 range and industry experience is welcomed but not essential. Entry is subject to an initial assessment and interview.
