Course Overview

Geography is the study of the world as the home of people, its natural and human environments, and the links between them. It has an emphasis on real world examples and the world around us.

You will be involved in fieldwork and practical work and learn a host of diverse skills, which will equip you for future study and employment. This subject is varied, topical, and it complements other subjects in sciences, arts or humanities.

Geography is equally divided between the study of physical and human environments. You will have the opportunity to take part in a number of local and more distant visits that will add great value to your studies. This may include the Jurassic Coast, Cardiff, a local nature reserve and an optional international study trip to Iceland, Naples or further afield.

Topics may include:

  • Hazards
  • The water and carbon cycles
  • Global systems and governance
  • Changing places
  • Hot deserts and desertification
  • Population and the environment.

Assessment Methods

The course will be assessed mainly by written exam, with an additional individual coursework investigation (20%).
