Course Overview

Performing Arts is a broad, practice-based course that provides a foundation for those who want to develop both performing and production skills and employability skills, alongside maths and English GCSE.

This holistic approach will focus on developing essential skills needed to progress onto a number of Level 3 courses at Strode.

You will work in professional performance and rehearsal spaces, including Strode Theatre – a nationally recognised arts venue for Somerset. You will also have opportunities to access the College’s excellent facilities in audio production, green screen, and digital technologies.

Topics may include:

  • Vocal technique
  • Movement
  • Digital media performance
  • Public speaking
  • Audition/interview technique
  • Stagecraft and design.

Practical projects will allow you to have input in the creation, design, management and performance of solo and group work across a variety of genres.

Assessment Methods

You will be assessed periodically throughout the course through live and recorded performances, workshops and presentations, alongside a digital portfolio.

Progression Options

This course is an ideal pathway to progress onto Level 3 courses at Strode College & UCS College Group.

Entry Requirements

You will need five GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language or Maths.
