Assessment Methods

Physics is taught in a modern, well-equipped laboratory with access to laptops and computers. At least one lesson per week is devoted to practical work, enabling students to master laboratory skills using a variety of specialist equipment.

Research projects allow the pursuit of their particular interests into topics such as dark matter and particle acceleration.

Progression Options

As a physicist, you will be trained to tackle problems using a combination of mental models, maths and careful experimental work. Your ability to solve problems and to work in teams makes you suitable for a wide range of careers.

Physics, along with Maths, is an essential requirement for any accredited Engineering degree. In recent years students have progressed to study Physics and Engineering at the universities of Birmingham, Southampton and Nottingham.
