The foundation course can lead and support you onto the T Level in Health or Science and offers the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Working in the Health Sector.

You will study elements of science concepts alongside work-focused training and develop the professional, personal and employability skills and behaviours required to progress on to a T Level or higher technical education in the Health and Science sectors.

GCSE Maths and English will also be studied alongside this qualification for those students who have not achieved a grade 4 in these subjects.

NCFE/CACHE have worked with over 133 leading health and science sector bodies, expert practitioners, employers and training providers to develop this qualification which will enable learners to develop the necessary skills to progress. You will also have access to our specialist ward facilities and resources.

Topics may include:

  • Understanding the role of the healthcare worker
  • Communication skills for working in the health sector
  • Personal development in the health sector
  • Health, safety and security in the health sector
  • Understanding quality standards in the health sector
  • Equality and Diversity in the health sector
  • Biology, anatomy, and physiology.

Assesment Methods

You will be assessed through a set of occupation standards, centre-based assessment tasks, and two block week work experience placements.

Progression Options

With successful completion of your maths and English (if applicable), your Level 2 qualification and if you are able to demonstrate the employability skills for working in the health sector, you should be able to progress to a T Level, an apprenticeship, or another Level 3 course.

Entry Requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs at grade 3 and above / NVQ Level 1 plus GCSEs at a grade 3 or above including Maths, English and Science.

Entry is subject to a successful interview.
