Countryside Management

If you enjoy working outdoors and care about the environment, a career in Countryside Management could be the perfect fit.

Turn your passion for the outdoors into a career with purpose

Whilst many of our Countryside Management courses are based at Cannington College, we offer a Level 2 course surrounded by some of the UK’s most diverse and inspiring landscapes. From the Somerset Levels to Exmoor National Park, you’ll gain hands-on experience in unique and biodiverse settings.

It’s the perfect way to start a career in the outdoors, and you could progress onto a Level 3 programme at Cannington on completion.

Why Choose Countryside Management?

With the rise in eco-tourism and renewed focus on environmental stewardship, now is the time to step into a career that has real purpose and impact, such as a:

  • Countryside Ranger
  • Conservation Officer
  • Estate Worker
  • Environmental Educator
  • National Park Warden
  • Green Tourism Specialist.

Shape the future of the British landscape with skills for the UK’s green economy

A career in Countryside Management means no two days are the same. One day, you could be maintaining habitats or surveying wildlife; the next, leading a guided walk or helping shape environmental policy.

You’ll learn sustainable land management, biodiversity protection, and practical countryside skills, which are all vital in today’s changing environmental landscape.

The Countryside Management sector is at the forefront of the UK’s national commitment to Net Zero and nature recovery. With major changes to agricultural policy and a strong focus on environmental protection, a career in this field is about practical action, ecological science, and the sustainable future of our landscape.
