Course Overview

This course is free if you meet the eligibility criteria, for full details click here: https://www.ucscollegegroup.ac.uk/policies-and-reporting/adult-course-fees/.

This course is designed for adult learners who want to step out of “automatic mode” and take full creative control of their photography. You’ll gain confidence with the core technical skills—aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and essential editing—so your camera becomes a tool for intention rather than guesswork.

Alongside the technical foundations, you’ll explore the artistic side of image-making through light, composition, mood, and visual storytelling. Each session offers hands-on practice, guided experimentation, and supportive feedback to help you develop your own photographic style.

By the final session, you’ll create and present a personal mini-portfolio that showcases your growth. You’ll also take part in an exciting creative challenge, giving you the chance to apply your new skills and produce images you’re proud of.

Assessment Methods

Whilst there is no formal assessment, class discussions will take place and feedback will be provided throughout the course.
