Course Overview

This employment programme is aimed at young people aged 18-24 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or self-identified support needs and a desire to get a job. This person-centred course aims to provide you with the support, skills and guidance you need to transition into employment.

On the job training is a key part of this course, with the majority of your time spent in a work placement supported by a Job Coach (Discovery), learning the skills needed for employment. All lessons will take place in our off-site base room. You will agree weekly targets to work on with your tutor and employer.

If you wish to continue with maths and English at Level 1 or higher you will be required to attend additional lessons at Strode College, otherwise Maths and English is embedded within the workplace.

Topics may include:

  • Industry training
  • Induction on health and safety in the workplace
  • Customer service skills
  • Rights and responsibilities in the workplace
  • Personal finance (understanding payslips).
