Course Overview

This course will suit those who have completed the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or similar and wish to work towards counselling in an agency setting.

Topics may include:

  • Counselling relationships
  • Diversity
  • Personal awareness
  • Theory and mental health
  • Supervision and reflection.

Assessment Methods

CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies is assessed through a combination of internal portfolio evidence and an external assessment.

Students must build a portfolio including tutor observations, peer feedback, self-reviews and written assignments.

Progression Options

This qualification leads to employment and increases employability for those whose role is to support others in sectors such as health and social care work, teaching and learning, advocacy and mediation, support and project work, and other helping roles.

It provides additional skills for those already in employment and is likely to lead to increased opportunities for promotion and advancement towards practitioner-level qualifications.

Entry Requirements

Counselling Skills L2 or another aligned qualification. All applicants will have an informal guidance interview with a member of the teaching team.
