Course Overview

The Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who work in customer-facing roles and are responsible for delivering high-quality service that meets customer and business needs. This apprenticeship provides apprentices with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to build positive customer relationships, resolve issues effectively, and contribute to organisational success.

Throughout the programme, apprentices develop a strong understanding of customer service principles, communication techniques, and the importance of providing a professional and consistent customer experience. They learn how to interact confidently with customers through a variety of channels, including face-to-face, telephone, email, webchat, and social media.

Apprentices will develop practical workplace skills such as problem-solving, organisation, adaptability, and managing challenging situations professionally. They will also learn how to take ownership of customer issues, use initiative, and contribute to improvements in service delivery.

Topics may include:

  • Understanding customers and their expectations
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Managing customer information and data, Handling customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback
  • Identifying customer needs and providing appropriate solutions, Building customer loyalty and enhancing customer experience
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is carried out through a combination of workplace-based learning, observations, professional discussions, knowledge activities, and reviews with a dedicated assessor.

Apprentices will gather evidence of their skills and competence throughout the programme by completing practical tasks and demonstrating how they apply customer service principles in their role.

The apprenticeship concludes with an End-Point Assessment (EPA), which typically includes:

  • A practical observation of customer service delivery
  • A portfolio of evidence showcasing workplace achievements and competence
  • A professional discussion supported by the portfolio.

Progression Options

You could progress to our Level 3 Customer Service Specialist programme, or other relevant qualifications.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should ideally hold GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above in English and maths. You must also be employed in a customer-facing role and have the support of your employer to undertake and successfully complete the apprenticeship programme.
