Course Overview
This course is free if you are aged 19-23 without a Level 3 qualification or can be paid for with an Advanced Learner Loan.
This course is aimed at hairdressers who wish to extend their hairdressing and creative skills further, or for hairdressers who are wishing to return to the industry and would like to update their existing skills and knowledge.
Home study, full attendance and independent research is essential for success on this course.
Topics may include:
- Advanced cutting and styling
- Colour
- Colour correction including techniques such as balayage and combining a range of techniques and processes.
Assessment Methods
All units are assessed and graded through observation of practical work on clients in our professional salon and online exams for each unit.
Progression Options
Many students progress directly into paid work.

An interview is required for this course.

The Student Experience Team can mentor and signpost students who are struggling with a range of issues that are negatively impacting their day-to-day life. The Student Experience Team works closely with the Safeguarding & Lifestyle Teams to promote proactive wellbeing enrichment sessions. The team can refer on to counselling when appropriate.

All of our students will have a personal tutor to support them with their academic progress and personal development. The tutorial programme consists of 1:1 support, group tutorials and guest speakers, plus targeted online resources which complement the UCS College Group Advantage scheme.
