Course Overview

The Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor Apprenticeship develops the skills and knowledge needed to supervise teams and support daily operations within the hospitality industry. Apprentices learn how to deliver excellent customer service, maintain high standards, and support business performance.

Through workplace learning and structured training, learners develop leadership, communication, problem-solving, and people management skills. They gain experience in supervising staff, managing resources, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, and delivering quality customer experiences.

Typical roles include Hospitality Supervisor, Restaurant Supervisor, Front of House Supervisor, Bar Supervisor, and Catering Supervisor.

Successful completion of the apprenticeship provides a recognised Level 3 qualification and supports progression into hospitality management roles and higher-level apprenticeships.

Topics may include:

  • Leadership and team supervision
  • Customer service excellence
  • Business operations and Hospitality standards
  • Communication and people management
  • Health, safety and compliance
  • Problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Assessment Methods

The apprenticeship concludes with an End-Point Assessment (EPA), which typically includes a multiple-choice knowledge test, a business project, and a professional discussion based on the project. These assessment methods enable apprentices to demonstrate their ability to supervise teams, maintain service standards, manage resources, and deliver excellent customer experiences.

Successful completion confirms competence against the requirements of the Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor Apprenticeship Standard.

Progression Options

You could progress to a Level 4 Hospitality Manager Apprenticeship, or Management roles such as Assistant Manager, Restaurant Manager, Front of House Manager, Catering Manager, or Bar Manager.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should ideally hold GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths. Applicants must also be employed in a hospitality role with supervisory responsibilities, or have the opportunity to develop these responsibilities during the programme, and have the support of their employer to undertake and successfully complete the apprenticeship.

This support should include opportunities to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for effective team supervision and hospitality operations.
